Driving instructors are regularly tested on their continued ability and fitness to give instruction, and are graded accordingly. Grade 4 is the minimum requirement to be able to continue to instruct.
Criteria for Grading
Grade 6 – Overall performance to a very high standard with no significant instructional weakness. 6% of driving instructors have this grading.
Grade 5 – A good overall standard instruction with some minor weakness in instructional technique. 30% of driving instructors have this grading.
Grade 4 – A competent overall performance with some minor deficiencies in instructional technique. 54% of driving instructors have this grading.
Grade 3 – An inadequate overall performance with some deficiencies in instructional technique.
Grade 2 – A poor overall performance with numerous deficiencies in instructional technique.
Grade 1 – Overall standard of instruction extremely poor or dangerous with incorrect or even dangerous instruction.
10% of driving instructors have no grade. |
